Mentor Texts for the First Day of School!

Happy Sunday Everyone! I am liking up with the fabulous Collaboration Cuties for the Mentor Text linky all about what books to use for the first day of school!
One of my all time favorite books is the Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. I think it is the perfect book to use for the first day of school!

Every child can relate to being nervous on the first day of school! This book is about a little raccoon named Chester. Chester does not want to go to school because he wants to stay home and play with his momma. His mom comforts him and tells him sometimes we have to do things we dont want to do. She tells him that even if it is scary at first he will learn to love school. Before he goes to school Chester's Mom takes Chester's hand and gives him a kiss on his paw. She then tells him that whenever he needs some love from home that all he needs to do is press his hand to his cheek and he will feel his moms love (WAAA so cute)!! Great for making the kids feel like they are not alone in being nervous the first day. Here is a little freebie I made that you can use with your kiddos! It will be part of my upcoming mini unit with the book!

You can grab it
